A beauty pageant to encourage budding models from India’s northeastern state of Assam was organised recently at Guwahati. After grueling sessions which included mandatory ramp walk and answering of questions put forth by the judges, Bidhisha Barua of Guwahati emerged as ‘Miss Fresh Face, North-East 09’. The contest also included other sections like beautiful smile, gracious gait, flowing shiny hair etc. apart from the main crown. Bidhisha Barua bagged a one-year modelling contract with Dabur Gulabari and Dabur Vatika besides a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
The first and second runner-up titles went to Wanda Mary of Shillong and Nabanita Sarma of Guwahati respectively, who were awarded cash prizes of Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000. The contest was participated in by 1,000 contestants from across the North East.
