Dirty Politics

Politics, some says is a necessary evil. Ambrose Bierc says the conduct of public affairs for private advantage is politics. Whether we like or not, in a democracy the political process is unavoidable.

In India we have almost 65% of population below the age of 35 years. This explains that the students’ politics can neither be ignored nor overlooked by any political parties.

What has happened in Hyderabad University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jadavpur University are the reflections of deteriorating label of politics in the campus?

The student leader at JNU shouted slogans on the pretext that everybody has a right to express his views as constitution of India grants freedom of speech. Surprisingly the students who were shouting anti-India slogans were in fact opposing the very existence of the constitution of India. Afzal Guru was hanged by the Supreme Court of India for attacking Indian Parliament. JNU students were shouting slogans like “Afzal Guru tera kaatil abhi bhi zinda hai…..”, “Bharat desh ho barbaad, ho barbaad; Afzal Guru amar rahe, amar rahe; Kashmir ki azadi ki jung zaari rahegi. Bharat ki barbaadi ki jung zaari rahegi; Tum kitne Afzal maaroge. Har ghar se hum Afzal nikaalenge. Bharat ke tukade hoonge dus. Insha Allah! Insha Allah; Kashmir ko hum lad ke lenge. Bharat ko jihad se hum khatm kar ke rahenge; India Go back. India go back; Afzal tera karwaan hai adhura. Mil kar hum karenge poora”. Are the students trying to say that they want to punish the Supreme Court of India? It’s absolutely ridiculous and totally unacceptable that students’ politics should touch at so low level. Surprisingly it is not understood why the students in Kolkata had to shout the slogan “Manipur Maange Azaadi” (Manipur wants freedom). It is not the first time that JNU was in news for the wrong reasons and anti-India activities. Even the Late Prime Minister Smti. Indira Gandhi was once stopped from entering into the campus of JNU. It is not only the students but some of the teachers and professors are also part of the entire activities. It is sad that institution of such a high reputation is getting deteriorated day by day into the politics of destruction and doing more harm to the nation than good. How delusional will be the families of the martyrs of Parliament attack and those of so many armed forces when students, the future of our country participate in an event which makes mockery of the supreme sacrifices of the forces.
