ASSAM-MEGHALAYA BORDER

Row Needs Early Solution

Dwaipayan Dasgupta

Well, by hindsight, what can probably be surmised is that any issue how intractable or tangled though it may prima facie appear to wrestle with, plaguing a State and its people should not be left unresolved and pending under any circumstances in consideration of the future. Such an unfounded and unwise stand of deffering a likely solution on the part of those at the helm of affairs when it was not so tangled as at present and as such, soluable,

will per se lead the State and its people nowhere near a settlement rather than lead the to more problems on this count in the future. Not surprisingly, if there is any State in the Northeastern part of our country that is today humstrung by far more intractable problems than its neighbours, it is without an iota of doubt Assam. But what must have galled a knowledgeable man is that over the decades a series of governments have come and gone, but, regrettably, a few ticklish problems still remain unresolved as ever before, during the period.
