IED, mortars of WW II found

A powerful IED was found planted at a drain at Ishirow under Heingang police station Imphal East along the Imphal-Ukhrul road by an ROP team of 45 Assam Rifle Meanwhile, three rusted 81 mm mortar shells, believed to be of WW-II era, were discovered during excavation of earth for construction of Chingdompok-Khongjom road According to reports culled from the spot, a team of 45 Assam Rifles and locals came across the explosive device being planted at a roadside drain in between Khabeisoi and Sajiwa jail at around 6.45 am in the morning. The explosive was suspected to be planted to target the security personnel.
