Gwyneth Paltow Saved a Life on 9/11
Like a scene right out of a Hollywood blockbuster, Gwyneth Paltrow’s chance New York City run-in with a young World Trade Center employee on September 11th actually saved a life.
According to Lara Lundstrom Clarke, she’s here today all thanks to an unexpected encounter with the Oscar-winning actress, as she said. “I always cut across 7th Avenue. Then all of the sudden a silver Mercedes SUV came barreling down towards me.”
“I stopped and they screeched to a halt. Then I made eye contact with the Mercedes driver. OMG it was Gwyneth Paltrow,” Lara revealed, adding, “She waved me across, I crossed and she continued on her way. At least if I was late for work I had a story to tell.”
Well, Lara missed her train due to the chance encounter with Paltrow and missing that train is the reason she is still here today. After catching the next departure and finally arrived to work at the WTC the first plane had already hit.
Thanking Paltrow for changing the course of her life forever, Lara noted, “If I had made that train I would have been at my desk on the 77th floor of 2 World Trade Center.”
