National Milk Day 2019

Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong attended the celebration of the ‘National Milk Day’ in Shillong. The State Government has taken measures to upscale the dairy industry in Meghalaya by implementing Dairy Mission in several District of the State.

Speaking during the program Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that it has been an endeavor of the State Government to ensure that dairy programme of the State is intensified. “We have taken measures to upscale the dairy industry in Meghalaya and Dairy Mission is one such initiative” He added. During the celebration the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister handed out prize to winners of several competition organized by the Department.

National Milk Day is celebrated across the country on 26^th November every year on the birthday of Dr. Verghese Kurien. He was the father of the White Revolution in India. National Milk Day is celebrated to promote benefits related to milk and milk industry and to create awareness among people about the importance of milk and milk products. Verghese Kurien is known as the ‘Father of the White Revolution’ of India who was a social entrepreneur whose “billion-litre idea”, Operation Flood, the world’s largest agricultural dairy development programme.

We are happy to know that R.N. Ravi, Interlocutor for the Naga Peace Process and now Governor of Nagaland, have been promoted twice while serving as the Interlocutor. The NSCN-IM should also be grateful that the Framework Agreement was signed during this period.

How the Current Indo-Naga Talks Began:  Though the NSCN faced a huge setback in the 80s, twelve years after its formation, through the initiative of the organization, Nagalim was admitted in the UNPO (Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation) on 23 January, 1993. This was widely published in the international media. And Nagalim was featured in the Times Magazine the same  year. (Some of the former members of the UNPO such as Armenia, East Timor, Estonia, Latvia, Georgia and Palau, have gained full independence and joined the United Nations.)

A high protein-packed breakfast satisfied our appetite all day long. We sipped special tea at Tamulpur. After three hours of driving, we saw amazing views of tea garden to soothe our eyes. The infamous Darangamela is now a place of business hub for eastern Bhutan.  The Kurichhu Hydropower Plant built across the Kurichhu River that flows into the river Manah and Beki. A decorative gate caught our attention. The Royal Bhutan Police had politely asked to report for immigration. With utmost respect and generosity, the officer asked a few questions of our arrival. We earned the bragging rights to cross an international border for being Indian. The sign of Indo-Bhutan treaty of friendship made us feel at ease.

Meghalaya Governor approve Latiplang Kharkongor as new CEM

Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy today has approved Latiplang Kharkongor as the new Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC)

In a letter through the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District, Matsiewdor War, Deputy Secretary A Lakiang to Governor Roy, said, “I am directed to inform you that Governor has approved the election of Latiplang Kharkongor as the new Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council.”

On Saturday, Roy declined to accede to the state government’s request for imposing Administrator’s Rule by the Conrad Sangma-led government as there was majority leading to the election of Chief Executive Member.

Four-time KHADC member, Latiplang Kharkongor was elected unopposed as the new Chief Executive Member after the combined NPP-UDP-led United Democratic Alliance boycotted the election of the Chief Executive Member

 It probably needs no elucidation that a feeling of alienation and frustration among religious and ethnic groups in a region is born out of the indifferent, flippant attitude and approach towards their hopes and aspiration. There are a number of complex issues troubling Assam for a pretty long time now. Ever since the country attained independence in 1947, a series of government in the state had come and gone. But, it is ironic that some of them still remained unresolved, one being the migration of large-scale illegal immigrants from East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, despite repeated pleadings with the Congress government by the diverse ethnic entities and civil society groups posing grave threat to the very existence of the indigenous Assamese people. This induced a strong sense of deprivation and frustration among large sections of them, which in turn, manifested itself in the protected six-year Assam agitation against the influx of illegal foreign infiltration.

KHADC cannot function as per emotion or political influence: P.N Syiem

The Chairman of the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Mr. Pynshngaiñlang Syiem is expelled from the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) for his anti-party activities,

Speaking to media person on Monday Pynshngaiñlang Syiem said that he is surprised that the Party had not called him for the meeting nor issue any show cause notice to him. “I know my expulsion from the NPP was mainly because the Governor had declined to accede to Government’s recommendation for Administrator’s Rule in the Council” Pynshngaiñlang Syiem added. The Chairman also said that he has follow the rules enshrine for the KHADC.

“The State Government cannot go by emotion or political influence just fulfils their personal interest”. The State government cannot interfere in the KHADC when the KHADC did not bypass the laws enshrined in the KHADC he added. Pynshngaiñlang Syiem said that his expulsion from NPP will not affect him in the KHADC as he will continue to be Chairman of the KHADC.

Earlier Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong had said that the Government has recommended Administrator Rule in KHADC foreseeing “instability” in the KHADC.

PMC bank was founded in the year 1984 in a single room from a single branch currently the bank touched 137 branches  across six states Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

By the time this story is published you will come to know the results of Assembly by-election in Assam. Four seats that will go to bypolls include, Sonari, Jania, Rangapara and Ratabari.

Jania is a Muslim dominated seat and BJP has no expectation from here as well. But certainly following the publication of final National Register of Citizens (NRC) the ensuing by-elections is a litmus test for the saffron camp.
