According to recent Human Immuno deficiency Virus (HIV) Surveillance Report of 2016-2017 by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), the State of Mizoram has the highest number of HIV positive cases. According to NACO’s report, around 15235 people in Mizoram are recorded to be living with HIV disease. The first case of HIV was recorded in early 1990s and it was the result of ‘drugs uses’. From the early 2000s till date it was reported that ‘sexual driven’ is one of the reason in the increase of HIV in the state. It may be noted that drugs abused and sexual desire are two main components in spreading of HIV in Mizoram. Mizoram has the highest HIV victims and the State saw 1736 death from this disease.

To embed concept of peace, sustainable development and global citizenship in text book of core subjects for the school of Sikkim, Sikkim Human Resource Development Department (HRDD) has signed a partnership agreement with the UNECO MGEIP on February 18, 2018. The agreement was signed by Additional Chief Secretary cum in-Charge of HRDD Department, Mr. G.P Upadhyaya and UNESCO MGEIP Curriculum Head, Miss Yoko Mochizuki.

Wetlands are commonly branded as Nature’s kidney. Kidney, one of the vital organs of human health, purifies blood by removing toxins and retains substances like water, sugar, aminio acid etc which are boon to human health. So does the wetland for Nature. Unwholesome materials found in water such as excess nutrient and sediments are removed by wetland. Also, removal of industrial and agricultural pollutants and contaminants from water is performed by wetland. Assam boasts 3513 number of wetlands which covers 101231.60 hectre areas, 1.29 percent of total geographical. Here, the writer tries to delve into Deepor Beel wild life sanctuary, the lone wetland of global importance in Assam.

Even though it annually produces about 70-80 low cost films, making it the top film producing state in the Northeast region and even beating Bengal cinema, the state does not even have a single proper cinema hall worth its name nor does it have a formal institution to train and teach aspirant filmmakers.

Hmarkhawlien, the second largest Hmar village in Assam with a population of five thousand, known for its world famous delicious pineapple fruit with a very vibrant and pulsating populace, has been rocked by the killing of one of its residents, Norbert Sanate by a militant group at the end of January last. Investigation by police revealed that he owed allegiance to Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) chairman group. He was targeted by the rival group HPC (D) President group led by Zosangbera who in a statement issued to the press that he owned up responsibility for shooting down Norbert Sanate. Several grounds have been cited for shooting him down. The statement released from Sinlung general headquarters in North Mizoram was signed by L R Ruben, Information and Publicity Officer and Solomon Hmar, Publicity and Defence Officer.

Commercial production of tea began after the conquest of large areas by the British East India Company, the widespread popularity of tea as a recreational drink began in the earnest in the 1920s, after a successful advertising campaign by the Tea Board. Tea was originally only consumed by Anglicized Indians. In the early 1820s, the British East India Company began large-scale production of a particular tea variety in Assam. In 1826, the British East India Company took over the region from the Ahom kings through the Yandaboo Treaty. In 1837, the first English tea garden was established at Chabua in Upper Assam. In 1840, the Assam Tea Company began the commercial production of tea in this region, run by the local inhabitants.
