The Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, Shillong is overjoyed and proud that A.Swer, the State Secretary received the Silver Elephant, which is the highest award of the Bharat Scouts and Guides in India for her contribution towards development of youth in the state and the country as a whole.

Meanwhile, G.G. Pariat received the Silver Star Medal, the third highest award of meritorious service. The awards were presented by President of India, Pranab Mukherjee at a special function held recently at the Durbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.

 

A. Swer is the National Headquarter Commissioner (Guides), member of the National Council, National Executive and Rules Committee of the National Bharat Scouts and Guides and the State Secretary in Meghalaya who is responsible for the development of the youth in the State. She has served the Movement for 40 years. Swer was earlier awarded the Golden Beads Trainers Award for being the most efficient trainer of Indian Bharat Scouts and Guides for more than 25 years.

Pariat, meanwhile, is the Headquarters Commissioner (Scouts) responsible for revising the Bye Laws and Service Conduct Rules. He is the President of the Meghalaya State Scout and Guides Fellowship (an Organisation for Adult Members) besides being a member of the State Council, State Executive, etc.

Also Diana Lyngdoh Nongpiur, Anamika Lyngdoh, Kambesa R Marak and Nikrimchi R Marak from St. John’s Higher Secondary School and Saphishisha Kharsynteng from Little Flower Secondary School received the Rashtrapati Scout/Guide Award.
