Nongrah residents meet PHE Minister over water issue

Jemino Mawthoh today along with Headman and Executive members of Nongrah met PHE Minister Samlin Malngiang to discuss the issue of water scarcity in the locality.

 

Speaking to media person Jemino Mawthoh said that the Minister has assured them that by 2021 phase 1 for the water supply will for Nongrah, Donktieh and Nonglum. “We have identified land for establishing Treatment Plant in the locality so to ease people problems regarding water supply”.  He added. He also added that the concern authorities should also identified sources for the water supply for whole of Nongrah and not to depend only from Mawphlang reservoir. Jemino Mawthoh said that it is painfull to see that many people from Nongrah locality have to buy water frequently to meets their daily needs, he also urged the Minister to personally look into the matter to solve the water crisis in the locality.

 

Nongrah which comprise of Lum Marboh, Nongmarboh, Nongpdeng, Dongktieh Nonglum falling under Nongthymmai Constituency nave been experiencing acute water scarcity for almost a decade altogether. It may be mentioned that Nongrah and Lapalang have been excluded from the GS WSS (Phase 11). It was informed that it will probably be included in Phase IV.

Firmly, strongly and clearly oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill: Jairam Ramesh

The Indian National Congress (INC) will firmly, strongly and clearly oppose Citizenship Amendment Bill.

Speaking during the press conference in Shillong, Congress senior leader and Member of Parliament of Karnataka Jairam Ramesh said that the bill is an attempt to divide Indian society base on religion. “The Bill CAB clearly violates articles 14 and 21 of the very constitution in which India was build” he added. The MP went on to say that CAB is Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) project to divide India on religious line.

Commenting on the issues of NRC in Assam Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh said that the Indian National Congress is not opposing to the principles of NRC but it firmly oppose to the methodology of implementing the NRC in the State. “The methodology used by the present BJP Government in the State has cause lots of harassment to the poor and downtrodden genuine citizen of India” he added, Its is disturbing news to know that Jaintia women who got married in Assam were not included in the NRC list he lament.

The MP said that as a political party the Congress is willing to work for a solution to indentify genuine illegal immigrants but will not stand by and watch the harassment caused by the present methodology in implementing the NRC in the state. Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi want to polarize the issue of NRC in order to divert the main issues like employment, farmer’s distress, total economic back down etc

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh earlier said that the Government will bring up the CAB in the winter sessions which will likely starts from 18th November.

INC to lunch ‘Agitational program’ across the country

The Indian National Congress (INC) will hold series of ‘agitational program’ national wise from 5th to 15th November against the misrule of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the country.

Speaking to media person in Shillong General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) In-charge of North Eastern States, Luizinho Faleiro said that the objective of this ‘Agitational program’ is create awareness to the masses across the country against the ‘fist’ rule of BJP in the country. .

Speaking about the Meghalaya and North East as a whole, Luizinho Faleiro said “INC is the only party who will preserve the uniqueness of NE against the exploitation of the BJP led government. The General Secretary lamented numerous threat faces by North East such as the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and National Register of Citizen (NRC).

The congress leader also claim that since coming into power the BJP government has cut off financial support to the north Eastern States. “During the congress we have always consider NE as special and have always grant special status to the region, besides providing ample financial support”, He added. He went on to accuse the BJP of using man power and money to gather support during every election. “In every election he (The Prime Minister) will always talk about surgical strike against Pakistan to prove the party’s love for India, but they will never talk about unemployment, farmer’s distress or economic crisis, in fact they (BJP) will always polarize communal issues, religious issues, to gather support from the electorate he added.

The General Secretary said that its members will travel to each and every part of the country to create awareness to the people on the programs. These ‘agitational program’ will take place from district level and Head Quarter. In New Delhi the ‘agitational program’ will likely took place from first week of December 2019.
