Lijat Institution Empowering Women
Shri. Kalraj Mishra, Hon’ble Minister of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India visited Lijjat Institution on 2nd August 2014, on his 3 day visit to Mumbai organized by the Khadi & Village Industries Commission, accompanied by Shri, Udai Pratap Singh, Chief Executive Officer of Khadi and Village Industries Commission and other Officials of the Ministry & KVIC. The Hon’ble Minister was welcomed as per the tradition of Lijjat by our President Smt. Swati R. Paradkar, in presence of Vice-President Smt. Pratibha E. Sawant, Sanchalikas & Sister-members of the Institution.
The President personally briefed the Minister about the working procedure of Lijjat and explained the stages of production and packaging of Papads at the Bandra branch.
Shri. Kalraj Mishra later visited our Head Office and was particularly impressed by our object of empowering women through self-employment and improving their status in Society. The Minister expressed his thoughts about the Institution in the following message:
“The Institution made a very humble beginning on a meagre capital and has today achieved a turnover of 1095 crores, the sister-members have grown from 7 to 45,000, the amazing goodwill all this reflects on the dedication and hardwork of the Institution over the years. ‘No work is ordinary and work is worship.’ This is a phrase which the Institution has adopted and which I have observed and experienced during my visit.”
The President of Lijjat Smt. Swati R. Paradkar expressed Thanks to Shri. Kalraj Mishra for taking valuable time from his busy schedule and for appreciating the work carried out by the Institution.
