| After clear indication of foul play in the officers’ death the State government has constituted the SIT which is being headed by SP (city) East Khasi Hills Vivek Syiem. The move though came after a lot of running from pillar to post by the family members and friend. Although a very welcome move, the report of the SIT will be available after ninety days. Also the past performance of the many SIT that have been formed in the State has not been something to cheer about. Apart from the scepticism what is hoped that this investigation will bring justice to the bereaved family members and friends of the late cop.
However the case seems to be in jeopardy after what the family members found at the crime scene. To their utter dismay and astonishment the whole crime scene involving the murder of a police officer in his official police quarters had been cleaned. Can there be any clearer cut indication of the involvement of people from inside the department? |
A short comment of what the late officer’s wife who was present on the day when the official quarters were inspected is printed below.
“We left at 7am in the morning with SP Vivek Syiem and his team and reached Pearly’s official quarters around 12 noon. After reaching, first I went to meet the nurse, who was present on that eventful day. She stated that Pearly was in full uniform with his jacket and a maflar when he was brought at the facility and was referred to GNRC by the doctor present. From there we went to his quarters with the SIT Team along with other family members, magistrate and the expert. When we opened the door, I think it was the sitting room which was the first room, and then when we went to his bed room. What we saw was that the room was cleaned, everything has been washed and the bullet mark was on the top of the ceiling near the fan. The cleaning of the room was not expected. Inside the bed room there was a large circle which was drawn by charcoal on the floor, his head must have fallen down there. What they said was totally disappointing and unacceptable. It was not wise of the people involved to have tempered all the evidence. What sir Vivek told is that on that day Pearly came home to have food, but when we went to the kitchen, everything have been cleaned and all the utensils had been washed. We did not see any blood strain, even the wall has been cleaned, from my side on that day I feel very disappointed and it is not wise. Some of the people who were present on that day, two people who saw the incident one whose name is Bah Tirot Sing and the other Bah Sangpilang; whom I asked about the incident, both of them had given me two different answer. When I was asking bah Tirot Sing about the incident suddenly I saw one person by the name Bah Umdor(I didn’t know that the person is the OC of nongpoh), what I saw that person touched the hand of Tirot Sing signalling him not to speak. But then I went back to that person and he just run away, disappeared from there, and I couldn’t see him anymore. Then I asked who had cleaned the room, they said the sweeper. I asked where they were and they said they didn’t know. Then I asked them who had given the order to clean the room, they said bah Umdor who is the OC of Nongpoh, and when I was looking for bah Umdor he was not there anymore ,he just run away from the scene, and I don’t know where he went, then I asked those persons what was the condition of the bed, then both of them has given different answer, so on that day whatever I saw, I feel that some things lies behind, whatever happened to my husband, all the evidence has been tampered, something lies behind, something mysterious happened, I feel so sorry for my husband, all the evidence has been tempered.”
