EVILS OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Though  social  media  is  serving  the  interests  for  spreading  faster  information,   yet  there  is  at  the  same  time  the  dark  side  of  misusing  which  include  cyber  crimes. The Martin Luther Christian University in Shillong has created awareness. That in  Shillong  itself  there  are  as  many  as  300  social  websites,   which  are  used  by  specially  the  youths  and  students  in  their  day  to  day  contact,  even  with  friends  and  acquaintances  within  and  outside  the  country.  Social  media  including  internet  have  however  both  positive  and  negative  aspects.  There  is  therefore  a need  today  for  imparting  proper knowledge  and  know  how  among  the  youths  on  the  merits  and  demerits  of  the  social  media.  Besides, there  is  the  Facebook  and  Instagram  facilities  that  have  come  about  but  the  main  concern  is  that  the  youths  should  not  be  misled  in  using  these  media  for criminal  and  other   anti-social  purposes.  In  anything  there  is  always  two  sides  of  the  coin.

Zenith Sangma

Former Minister Zenith Sangma has accused the NPP led MDA Government of misusing its power in banning the internet. Zenith Sangma said that “The state government has misused the power vested to them, due to the ban of internet in the state; all the students who had to apply online for admission were lost as most of the cyber café was shutdown.
