The prudence has prompted at last for the Central Government to initiate measures in right earnest for disinvestment process of the renowned Air India airline. However, the government hastened to announce that it cannot take place before 2022, much to the chagrin and discomfiture of the stakeholders. It may be recalled that Multinational organisations including the Tata Group and some employees of the airline, evinced interest in buying the Air India. However, the present government led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi cannot be faulted entirely for the sordid state-of affairs, as there was no positive response for the government’s proposed disinvestment of the air line three years ago.

Buoyant by its electoral gains in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections where it won 18 out of the 42 seats, BJP is all out to wrestle Trinamool Congress from West Bengal in the forthcoming State Assembly Election, using a multi prong strategy. While it is hoping to lure general voters by identifying with one of Bengal’s most fascinating icons, Subhas Chandra Bose, the saffron brigade is also wooing a minority community to defeat Mamata Banerjee in the State Polls.

With the crucial State polls, hardly a few months away, the BJP has turned Netaji’s 125th birth anniversary on 23 January into a political Launch pad in the turf war with the ruling Trinamool Congress. The BJP is leaving no stone unturned and the trump card, up their sleeves is Netaji, whose legacy resonates across Bengal. The seat sharing deal between ruling BJP and its ally in Tripura government Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura (IPFT) in upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas District Council (TTAADC) elections expected to be held within next three months has appeared to be the main trembling block for survival of the alliance. The IPFT joined hands with BJP before 2018 assembly poll with the assurance that the later party will facilitate them to achieve their ultimate target of empowerment of ADC and enjoy autonomy in true sense. The BJP leaders were committed to give free hand to IPFT in running the administration in ADC besides, elevating the status of ADC. Tripura ADC was established in 1983 for socio-political empowerment of tribals in Tripura. Afterwards, there were several changes in the administration but no improvement in ADC functioning.
