Davinder Singh 1st Indian to qualify for Javelin Finals

 Davinder Singh Kang creates history by becoming the first Indian to qualify for the final round of the javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships. Injured Kang cleared the automatic qualification mark of 83m in his third attempt with a distance of 84.22m. Being the last man to throw Kang uplifted the Indian team and eventually did it in style by sending the spear beyond the qualification mark to set his personal best at 84.22m.

 

His personal best placed him on 7th position among the top 10 to compete in the final on the 12th of August. With this he is the first Indian to do so at any Championship in the world.

Religious individuals wait for BJP revelation

The BJP blamed congress for portraying BJP as an anti-Christian and anti minority. In a meeting between the BJP and six religious groups the BJP spokes person Nalin Kohli clearly stated that congress are trying hard to brainwash the people of Meghalaya, by accusing the BJP of favouring only Hinduism.

It is noted that religious groups came to the meeting as a free individuals but not as the representative of the church. The BJP spokesperson encourages every individual to clarify their stand on or against the BJP. He said “the meeting has no political interest but to clarify the doubts on the stand of BJP on other religion, and the stand is clear we are a secular party” and every one has the freedom to belief.”

Those six religious group leaders who attended the meeting were from Christians both Catholic and Presbyterian, Sikh, Seng Khasi, Hindu, Muslim.

Foundation stone of Mawphlang Science and Commerce College.

Chief Minister Dr.Mukul M Sangma in the presence of other MinistersH.D.R Lyngdoh, M. Dango, AmpareenLyngdoh and MLA of  Mawphlang Kennedy Khyriemlaid the Foundation Stone for Science & Commerce College at a function which was held at Sacred Grove.

DrMukulSangma clearly stressed on the need for proper education especially in rural areas for overall development. Due to lack of education facilities the youth of the state are bound to migrate to Shillong or outside the state for higher education, He stressed. The Chief Minister also said that the government is taking care of all the issues relating to education and with complete involvement of all stakeholders the state will rose back to its former glory of being “the educational hub of the northeast”.

 

The 20 acres land for the college construction was donated by the HimaMawphlang.

A Major boost to the State BJP

Major boost to the state BJP when 2 independent sitting legislators from Jaintia Hills joined hands with the saffron party on 28th August ahead of the 2018 Assembly Polls.

The duo new members of the BJP belong to Khliehriat and Mowkaiaw constituency.

The official felicitation was held in National Headquarter at New Delhi in the presence of BJP National President Amit Shahji, Ram Madhavji, National General Secretary, Himanta Biswa Sarmaji, Finance Minister of Assam, State Prabhari Nalin Kohli and State President Shibun Lyngdoh besides other State leader’s including Thomas Nongtdu and Rollingson Dkhar.

BJP State unit vice president JA Lyngdoh said that “the joining of these two leaders will definitely give a huge boost to the party in the upcoming general election not only in Jaintia Hills but in the entire State as well, he also added that the last general assembly elections in other states have shown that people have already favoured the BJP while expressing the same confidence in occupying majority of seats in the state of Meghalaya.

 

On the other hand Amlarem legislator Stephan Mukhim handed over a memorandum to the National President of BJP on behalf of coordination of Coal Dealer’s and Miner’s Association regarding 12 AB as per Sixth Scheduled Presidential Notice.

Exposing The Bogey of DISCRIMINATION AGAINST THE NORTHEASTERNER

So widespread is the influence of the disruptive forces in India’s North Eastern States that even the recent watershed development like launching of GST, the One India One Tax regime, on the midnight of 30th June could not, for a moment, muffle or contain the voice of racism and regionalism that is booming in that corner of our country!

On 25th June, 2017 at Delhi Golf Club, Talin Lyngdoh, a Khasi lady from Meghalaya, was humiliated and shown the door because her traditional costume “Jainsem” was perceived to be a maid’s uniform.

45 years of politics D.D Lapang.

From a road labourer to a school teacher, Dr. Donwa Dethwelson Lapang is currently the most successful Politian in the state. He first contested in the Legislative Assembly Election in 1972 from Nongpoh Constituency as an independent Candidate and served as an MLA before becoming the Minister of State Cooperation, Jails, Education and Civil Defence in the year 1978.

From then onwards there was no looking back until the year 1992 when he became the Chief Minister of the state. Though he held this post for only one year, He was again sworn in as Chief Minister on 4th March 2003. Due to disagreement in the coalition government he resigned from the post on 15 June 2006 and again became the Chief Minister on 10th March 2007.

In the 2008 State Election the Indian National Congress party won a majority of seats. He became the Chief Minister on 10th March 2008, but has to resign on 19th March due to fewer majorities. He again became chief minister for the fourth time on 13th May 2009 when the State was under President's Rule for 2 months.

 

Apart from holding the highest number of Chief Minister Post he also holds various designations before becoming the chief minister of Meghalaya.
1. 1983 to 1985 - Minister of Planning, Finance, Home, Revenue, Food & Civil Supply. 
2. 1985 to 1986 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, Home     (including Passport), and Revenue. 
3. 1986 to 1986 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, and Home (including Passport) and Revenue. 
4. 1986 to 1987 - Minister of Finance (including Taxation), Planning, Evaluation, and Home (including Passport). 
5. 1987 to 1988 - Minister of Planning and Programme Implementation. 
6. 1987 to 1988 - Minister of Home, Revenue, and Excise. 
7. 1988 to 1990 - Deputy Minister of Home.
