Three-day Dhrupad Mahotsav of classical music both vocal and instrumental conclave concludes at Dhubri District Library Auditorium recently. The musical programme organised under auspices of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama, an autonomous body of  Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the Dhubri District administration of Assam.

 At the onset of three-day, a Goalian dance, a part of rich Goalpariya culture was presented by Bhuyan Roy Kausani and Anukul Roy and welcomed the guest and audience while Dhubri District Development Commissioner, Banashree Nath declared Dhrupad Mahotsav open.Thereafter, an exponent of classical dance, Erika Ingrid Nandi of Dhubri formally inaugurated the Dhrupad festival.

 On the first day, Dhrupad singer, Vinod Kumar Diwidi from Uttar Pradesh, musician, Sourbrata Chakraborty from Rajasthan, Radheshyam Sharma from Uttar Pradesh enthralled the hall packed audience by their vocal and instrumental performances on the first day.

 On the second day of the festival, Dhrupad singer, Pelva Naik from Maharashtra, musician , Monmohan Naik from Delhi, Sashikant Pathak from Bihar and Dhrupad Singer, Brij Bhushan Goswami from Delhi presented their performances which were applauded by audience.

 On the third day, Dhrupadz singer, Pallab Das from Uttar Pradesh, exponent in Rudra Veena,Sarda Musthi from Delhi and Chitrangada Egle from Madhya Pradesh presented their master pieces of performances and thus concluded the three-day mega festival of classical music.

 At the end of the programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Animesh Talukdar felicitated the artists who came from different parts of the country with traditional phulam gamocha of Koch-Rajbangshi community. Apart from this, on behalf of Dhubri cultural circle, artists, Erika Ingrid Nandi, Manasi Sarma Majumdar, and a nature activist, Anesh Roy Sarkar also felicitated all the participants of festival with a terracotta doll and a neem seedling each.

 Dhubri District Information and Public Relation Officer( Dipro) Jiten Das, who took the initiative and shouldered all responsibility in organising the mega musical even in Dhubri after a long 40 years, extended his gratitude and conveyed his heartfelt thanks to all to make this festival a grand success.

 Talking to Associate Editor of Eastern Panorama, Bijoy Kumar Sharma, Dipro, Jiten Das informed that he came to know that classical song, and drama could not be held for long  40 years, he decided to organise it here in megaway. I am happy that local classical artists and cultural people of Dhubri district enjoyed the performances of renowned classical artists", Das added.

 The artists who came from different parts of the country also visited the important heritage sites of Dhubri district including Netai Dhubuni ghat, Dhubri Gurudwara of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib ji, Panch-Peer Dargah, terracotta cluster of villages and residence of Padmashree and renowned Goalparia folk singer, Pratima Barua Pandey.
